Article submission is a well-known technique to build traffic and backlinks to your Website. There are dozens of places that accept article submissions. But I want to get a consensus on how many places one should post one article and penalizing you for duplicate material.
Should you post your article only to one single repository? That would certainly help avoid the Googlebot and other SEs from seeing too many duplicate posts.
Do you post ot only a select few of the best ones? That's sort of a compromise.
Do you go ahead and post your article to dozens of them? - counting on the viral nature of them to outweigh the search engine penalty?
All explanations and comments are welcome. _________________ Roger Zimmerman

Post your articles to a number of them and keep track of how each one does so you'll be able to tell which are the best for you.
You write different than other people so their results may not be valid for you.
Change each of your posts and headlines a little bit and duplication won't be a problem.
Test to see if duplication even will be a problem.

Points well taken. Thank you for your input. Keep 'em coming, I'd like to know if this is a universal opinion or what other views there are on it. _________________ Roger Zimmerman

I like to write an article and submit it to several high ranking article sites such as ezinearticles, searchwarp and goarticles.
Change up the title and content a little, and you will do well! Always make sure to use keywords in your title, as well as sprinkled throughout your article content.
Also, write articles as often as you can - I believe this is one of the best marketing strategies you can use!

Thank you. I gather that the belief is that Google and other search engines only penalize you for duplicate titles?
Everything I've read before indicated that they will penalize you for duplicate content.
Suppose for example that you publish the article on your own Web page as well as out on the repositories> Wouldn't that cause SE penalty on our site?
Thanks for your input so far.

The answer to that one I'm not sure about - I've heard many say to put your articles on your own site as well as the article sites, so I put SOME of my articles on my site.
I would change both the title AND the content of your articles up just a bit to be on the safe side, though I have read many people don't believe duplicate content is such a big deal with Google anymore.
Anyone know for sure about this?

I want to explain here something about duplicate content.
Google doesnt penalize website owners for having their articles in different websites including article directories. What you can do if thousands webmasters like your article and put on their website? Is it your fault? No
It is included in article submittion too. You can submit to thousands directories. (ANd It is Not you site having the same content, but others site - article directories which have your article)
When Google Penalize?
Google can penalize use when You use the the same content on different places within your website. If you have the same content in different pages on your site, yes, it is fault.
You can even submit the same article to your site and to article directories at the same time, it will NOt make any problems, be sure. Every day thousands marketers take aticls from EzineArticles.com or from other places and it is NOT against Google Rules
And you should forget duplicate content penalty talks.
And one point about the quantity of article directories.
There is no need to submit the article to thousands directories to get traffic.
The only way to get visitors from your article is the quality of structure.
For learning how to get huge visitors from your article I suggest you to read the article "How To Make Your Article TITLE Sell" http://www.greatprofitonthenet.com/article-marketing.htm
This article is probably one of the best traffic articles on the net (if not the one)and best article marketing tip.
After reading it everybody can realize that submitting to one article directory is enough if you write the article itself as needed.
I always read it and bookmark on my site. It is must have for every article marketer.
Orxan
P.S. One of my article easily brings me 40-45 unique visitors a day after making some points on my article structure. _________________ FREE Ebook: "Drive 5000 Visitors/Day from Social Bookmarking Sites"

Thank you for that discourse and for the reference. I'll take the time to read it. In my initial overview of it it looks like a good one to add to my growing list of articles on the topic.
I'm still interested in other opinions and expecially votes.

I have found that the more article submission sites you send your articles to, and also backlink those articles on your personal site, your blog, your squidoo lens the more success you will have with article marketing. I have personally not been penalized for using many article sites with the same articles. You do though, have to do at least 2 articles per week in my opinion to have a large amount of success with branding your name.
To Your Continued Success,

Do most people who are writing articles post those articles to their blogs if they have them as well. Also, what is standard length of articles. I just did one that was apx 500 words didn't want to be too wordy but wasn't sure if I was too short as well, wanted to leave them wanting more so to speak! _________________ Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for it fullfillment... visit |

Thanks
Before reading that article, I was writing articles and submitted them to thousands directories, not giving attention to the TITLE. And results weren't good really (25 - 30 a day and not high quality visitors), also I was paying a lot of money to submission.
After reading that article I submit only to Ezine Articles and I focus mainly to the Article structure an results and quality visitors are great, because they come from Search Engines. And certainly, after it gets inexed in Google and has high PR, I can submit them to other directories (I dont do it). But I mainly focus on PR of my article page (and it is another technique).

400 - 700 words are normal article size. 450 - 500 probably is the best. So no problem with your article. _________________ FREE Ebook: "Drive 5000 Visitors/Day from Social Bookmarking Sites"

Thanks for the link it was quick and offered a useful tidbit. I am also just using ezine for now. Have you used any article generation software? If so is it worth it. _________________ Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for it fullfillment... visit |

Thanks for the info! Since duplicate content doesn't seem to be a problem anymore, I will stop wasting my time changing my articles up before submitting to different article sites!
I had never really put much thought into it, but when others pick up your articles on article sites and place it on their own website, that's a good thing - and could have been thought of as duplicate content before! I'll have to start using my few brain cells a little more often! _________________ Tess
